Preparing Livestock for natural disasters.

This morning I was reading about the massive wild fires in Texas. It seems every day there is a disaster happening somewhere. My state is getting ready for bad storms today and possible flooding. As homesteaders, all of us try to keep our pantries full and keep prepared for emergencies and disasters. But have you given your livestock as much consideration?

They will have to eat and drink and be medicated even if flooding or loss of electricity or "fill in the blank" happens. Have you seriously thought about how you would care for your livestock? For us, electricity to pump water for livestock is definitely our weak spot. We are planning on installing a hand pump for emergencies. Having back up feed for chickens, ducks, etc. is also something to consider.

I'd love to hear  how you all plan for disasters in your area.

Until tomorrow...stay safe and prepared!
